Price Extreme

Story type: Situational

Three positional signals indicate extremes: stochastic oscillator is at the edge of its range, Williams %R confirms the extreme, and Bollinger %B shows price at band boundaries. Together these describe price positioned at the edge of recent behavior.

State

Price extreme position

Emergence

Price at extreme positions across multiple frameworks. When the stochastic oscillator, Williams %R, and Bollinger %B all indicate price is at extremes of their respective ranges, price has reached boundary conditions from multiple perspectives. This describes a positional state where price sits at the edge of recent behavior.

Limits

This story identifies positional extremes, not reversal prediction or mean reversion. It does not predict price will reverse, guarantee overbought/oversold conditions will resolve, or indicate timing. Prices can remain at extremes for extended periods.

Explanation

Each signal represents an independent observation about price position: Stochastic Oscillator measures where price closed relative to its recent high-low range. Extreme readings (near 0 or 100) indicate price is at the edge of the range. Williams %R measures price position within the high-low range with inverted scale. Extreme readings confirm the positional observation. Bollinger Percent B measures price position within Bollinger Bands. Readings outside 0-1 indicate price has exceeded the typical volatility envelope. When all three show extremes, they describe price at boundary conditions—a geometrical observation about position, not future direction.

Interpretation

This story identifies positional characteristics, not reversal certainty. It does not predict mean reversion, guarantee price will return to center, or indicate timing. Prices can trend at extremes for extended periods.
